How do I connect to Denison's network from off-campus or to my Novell U: and S: drives from a Windows computer?
Using a remote access client allows you to connect to Denison's Novell file servers,  Library and other resources that are otherwise restricted to on-campus only when you are off-campus.

The instructions below outline how to install and use the Junos Pulse client for remote access.

Important: If you wish to access files on Denison's Novell servers, please follow the steps outlined in the Accessing Novell Drives FAQ on a Personal Windows computer or Accessing Novell Drives FAQ on a Denison Windows computer AFTER you use these instructions to establish a remote access connection.

Installation Instructions:
You must know whether you have a 32-bit or 64-bit version of the Windows operating system in order to install Junos Pulse. (Note: Denison Windows computers are Windows 7 64-bit.) If you are not sure, you can find this information as follows…
  • Windows 7: from the Windows Start menu, right-click on "Computer" and then select "Properties". Look for the System type line.
  • Windows 8: on the Windows Start screen, type "PC Info". A search panel will appear with "PC Info" in the search box. Press "enter" (or select the arrow) and select "PC Info (1 setting)" from the search results list. Look for the System type line.

Once you have found your operating system type...
  1. Download the installer for your Windows operating system by clicking the appropriate link below:
    Windows 64-bit
    https://remote.denison.edu/dana-na/jam/getComponent.cgi?command=get;component=JunosPulse;platform=x64
    Windows 32-bit
    https://remote.denison.edu/dana-na/jam/getComponent.cgi?command=get;component=JunosPulse;platform=x86
  2. Once the installer downloads, click to run it and follow the on-screen prompts.
  3. The installer ends with a screen with a checkbox for Launch Junos Pulse. Keep that box checked and click "Finish".
  4. Click the up arrow in the lower right corner of your screen to access the system tray. You'll see a new icon which looks like a sphere with an exclamation mark in it. Hover over it and it brings up a message that says Pulse: no active connections.
  5. Click the icon and choose "Open Pulse".
  6. Click the plus sign to add a connection and complete the fields as follows:
    For Name use "Denison".
    For Server URL use "remote.denison.edu".
Click the word "Add" then "Close"

At this point, the installation is complete and Junos Pulse is ready to use. For easier access, ITS recommends adding it to your Start menu or taskbar. (From the Windows Start menu, select "All Programs", "Juniper Networks", "Junos Pulse" and then right-click on Junos Pulse and choose either "Pin to Taskbar" or "Pin to Start Menu".)
